Lady Cards Fall to St. John-Endicott in Four

ST. JOHN - The Lady Cards fell to St. John-Endicott in a hard-fought four matches on the Eagle's court on Thurs., Oct. 5. Waitsburg dropped the first two matches 18-25 and 13-25, won match number three 25-18, but dropped the final match 20-25.

"We didn't play very well in the first two sets. We tried a couple of different rotations with girls in different positions and they didn't make the adjustment. In the third set we went back to our original rotation and the girls were clearly more comfortable and played much better. In the fourth set, we dug ourselves a huge hole (about 10-1) before making a run and coming back," said Cardinal coach Angie Potts.

Devon Harshman led the stats with an impressive seven kills, six blocks, two aces and four digs. Tayler Jones made four kills, two blocks, three digs, and one ace, Kirsten Miller made five kills, seven digs, and two aces, and Ariel Sandau made four kills and six digs. Amy Farley added another two kills and one block, Teagan Larsen made four digs, and Kailyn Lewis added one kill and one block.

"We still have several things to work on and improve on such as consistent serving and better serve receive passing. We missed 11 serves in the first two sets and aren't passing the ball where it needs to be to be effective. We'll get there and the girls are willing to work hard to make the improvements," Potts said.

The match left the Cardinals standing at 0-4 in league play and 7-9 overall. The Cardinals will play a league match against Colton on Oct. 10, at home.
