Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley

Waitsburg's Pop Up Downtown Was a Success!

WAITSBURG – In spite of competition from the Dayton Chamber Awards, a Seattle Seahawks game and dreary weather, Waitsburg's first Pop Up Downtown, held last Thursday night, was deemed a success!

Brooke Mikesell of Blush Salon & Spa was the catalyst for the event, when she organized a holiday open house in the salon. Brooke hosted Simply by Lyndsey (Lyndsey Kruger), 31 Bags (Deena Bell-Potter), Scentsy (Amelia Zaharevich), and Thrive (LaRonda Brasier) booths. Jessica Avery parked her mobile Lularoe bus, complete with fitting rooms, outside the shop.

Mikesell's shop was hopping most of the evening, with 56 people entering her raffle drawing.

"It was an amazing turnout. I didn't get to speak to everyone it was so busy at times! The love and support from clients and the community is heart warning," Mikesell said.

Waitsburg Commercial Club jumped on board and invited visiting businesses to set up shops along Main Street and Hugs, Gifts & Collectibles and Nothing New Antiques extended their business hours.

Barb Jaksa hosted a pop up art gallery in the former jimgermanbar space and Past to Present Furniture set up shop in the former liquor store. Star Fitness Gym held an open house and hosted information booths from Ameri Home Healthcare and PEAK Northwest Parra Professional Training. The Whoopemup Café provided food with a prix fixe menu of lasagna and Caesar salad.

"I was in several businesses during and after the function; every business was happy, had sales and felt good about the event. During my treks up and down Main Street I interacted with many Waitsburg Community members. The local support was amazing and very appreciated by Waitsburg Commercial Club and its member businesses. About 12 business owners and guests went to Whiskey Canyon after the event to celebrate. All and all, an overwhelmingly great effort," said Commercial Club President Joy Smith.
