Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley

Betty Kellogg Jacobson

November 15, 1929 - December 4, 2017

Betty Jacobson passed away on Monday, December 4, 2017 at Rosetta Assisted Living in Kennewick, WA.

Betty was born to Roy and Irene Kellogg of Spokane on November 15, 1929. Betty was later joined by a sister, Mollie ("Peach") Kellogg (Winnett) who preceded her in death in 1982. Betty had very fond memories of her time spent at the family's property on Benson Lake, North of Spokane.

The Kellogg family moved to Waitsburg in 1946, where she graduated from WHS later that spring. It was there that she met Bob Jacobson and the two headed off to Eastern Washington College in the fall. They married in 1948 and moved to Bob's home state of Wisconsin and began their family of 7 children. They both told stories of what was surely a lively household (a 21' trailer actually) with 3 young boys, roughly a year apart...in snowy Wisconsin.

The family returned to Washington where they lived and worked on wheat farms, enjoying fishing whenever possible. Betty remained in the Walla Walla and Prescott area and was able to enjoy traveling from time to time with her children and their families, and always enjoyed gardening.

Betty was a great cook, a voracious reader, a talented seamstress and in at times, was a pretty competitive pinochle player as well.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband Bob and her son Bob (Val) as well. She is survived by sons Steffen (Sheila), Danny (Jeannie), Mark (Gina), John (Linda) and daughters Nancy Gregory (Mike) and Tammy Parkhurst (Dan), as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her sister's sons Andy and Lee Winnett and their families.

We are grateful, as we look at this picture of a young, spirited couple in the late 1940's, both coming from small families (Bob was an only child) and realize just how lucky they were to add so many branches to their family tree.

No funeral is scheduled, as the family will have a private graveside service. If you are considering a donation in her name, please consider the Friends of the Library, Walla Walla Public Library, 238 E Alder St, Walla Walla, Wa 99362. Betty enjoyed the library services for many, many years.
