MOSCOW - WHS graduate and Lewis-Clark State College athlete, Owen Lanning, took second place at his first indoor track & field multi-meet of the season on Jan. 10 -11 at the University of Idaho. Lanning's teammate, Falk Thieme placed fourth to help the Warriors win the meet.
Fellow WHS grand and Warrior distance runner Emily Adams made her freshman debut at the meet competing on the women's 4X800 relay team that logged a time that qualified for Nationals.
"Owen's hard work paid off as he had personal bests in all seven events and he won the 1,000 meter race. Owen is currently ranked second in the National NAIA Multi standings and hopes to be competing at Nationals in early March in Kansas. Committed to academics as well as track, he was named to the Dean's List for fall semester," said proud mom Joanna Lanning.
For the indoor season multi athletes compete in a heptathlon, which is
seven events. Friday's events were the 60 meters, shot put, high jump and long jump. Saturday was the pole vault, 60 meter hurdles and the 1,000 (meter) race, according to Lanning.
