CHENEY - The Walla Walla Blue Mountain Stampeders participated in the Special Olympics East Region Track and Field events in Cheney on May 5. Several athletes from Waitsburg, Dayton and Prescott qualified to go onto the State Spring Games at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma on June 1,2,3.
Rachel Gradwohl brought home four gold medals: softball throw, 100 meter run, 200 meter run and 4x100 relay. Craig Lockard placed first in three of the events he participated in and 2nd in the 200 meter run. Raven Smith Beckman also had a great day! She placed 1st in the 100 meter speed walk, the shot put, and the 4x100 relay. Raven also placed 2nd in the 50m dash. Catherine Shepherd placed second in the shot put, third in the 200 meter speed walk and sixth in the 100 meter run.
