Lanning to Compete at NAIA Nationals

LEWISTON – Former Waitsburg High athlete Owen Lanning, now a junior at Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston, has qualified for the NAIA National outdoor track and field finals this week in the decathlon event. The meet will begin Thursday in Gulf Shores, Ala.

The decathlon includes ten separate events held over two days – Thursday and Friday. Lanning will compete in the 100-meter dash, long jump, shot put, high jump and 400-meter run on Thursday, and the 110-meter hurdles, discus, pole vault, Javelin and 1500-meter run on Friday.

This will be Lanning’s second National appearance this year. He qualified and competed in the NAIA Indoor Track Nationals in Pittsburg, Kansas, in late February in the heptathlon.
