Booker Residents' Trip To Fair a Success

Dear Editor,

This is a letter of thanks and acknowledgement. We staff members at Booker Rest Home were overjoyed with how our wonderful community pulled together to help our residents.

On Friday, Sept. 7, BRH (Booker Rest Home) was able to take 21 residents to the Columbia County Fair. This was an unprecedented number of residents to go on an outing. This feat would have been impossible without the support of the Columbia County Fair Board. The Fair Board accommodated the various needs of our residents and staff to make this a successful outing. Columbia County Transportation staff went above and beyond. They busted their tails off helping to get all of our residents to and from the fairgrounds safely. Other members of the community who helped make this possible were some wonderfully caring students from Dayton High School, and residents’ family members. They volunteered their time to visit with the residents and show them the sights that the fair had to offer. I’m not sure if those students know the impact that holding a hand, visiting, and just spending time with our residents had on them, but the sheer joy that we witnessed on their faces was priceless.

With so many stories of things going wrong in the world today, this experience was a shining example that there are still caring people. From all of us here at BRH and CCHS, we thank you!
