Please Support Stroe for Sheriff

Dear Editor,

This election year we do not have an incumbent running for County Sheriff. This means that we have an open seat race, and that equates into an opportunity for the citizens of Walla Walla County. It means that it is an opportune time to change direction if needed, to improve and to strengthen what already is functional.

To accomplish any of the above, a candidate must have a working knowledge of the needs, challenges and issues that have transpired in our local community. It will take a sense of history to know what needs to be preserved, strengthened or changed.

Because Matt Stroe has worked his entire adult life in Walla Walla County, he knows and understands what needs to be changed. Matt acknowledges that there needs to be a change in the relationship between the Sheriff’s Department and the County Commissioners. Three past County Commissioners have endorsed Matt and have agreed with his plans on how to change the relationship between the Commissioners and Sheriff Department. This is a sorely needed change.

Matt has his thumb on the heartbeat of this community, and he has relationships with a wide variety of community members and community leaders. These traits provide our next sheriff with the tools to network and problem solve current law enforcement issues our community has.

Matt Stroe’s connectivity to this community is why he is different than his opponent; his skills in law enforcement, connections to fellow agencies, and management skills were cultivated in this community, not across the United States for a government agency. And, Matt is a leader who demonstrates integrity which will bring his law enforcement family together, not be divided, and together they will make our community safe.

Mr. Stroe’s election and his subsequent implementation of open communication with all elected officials will be a win-win for every Walla Walla County resident.
