DW Girls Fall to WWVA, Beat White Swan to End Regular Season

Volleyball team falls to White Swan in first playoff round Monday

WALLA WALLA—The Dayton-Waitsburg volleyball team took on the number one team in the state, Walla Walla Valley Academy, on the road on Oct. 16 and fell in straight sets, 25-19, 25-13, 25-17.

“This was our second time playing WWVA,” said Coach Tara Brenner. “I felt that DW played tough against the number-one team in the state. We made them work for it and in return we as a team have grown.”

For the Match, Devon Harshman had 11 Kills and Kaleigh White had seven. Harshman also had nine blocks. Tatum Laughery had 17 digs. Mya Wood had eight assists.

On Oct. 18, DW traveled to White Swan and defeated the home team three sets to one, 18-25, 25-22, 25-21, 25-18.

“I am very proud of the way DW played with White Swan,” Brenner said. “We have a few injured players, which lead to changing up the offense. It took the first set to adjust to the change, but the ladies pushed through and played tough.”

Harshman had 18 kills in the match and White added 12. Wood had five aces, and Harshman and Neylan Bryan each had four. Harshman had six blocks and Laughery had 23 digs.

On Monday night, DW faced White Swan again at home in the first playoff round and fell three sets to two, 25-21, 25-22, 10-25, 22, 25, 15-10. Stats were unavailable at press time.
