Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley
WAITSBURG-The Dayton-Waitsburg football team played a crossover game against Soap Lake Friday in Waitsburg, and took a loss, 34-14. DW ended their season 2-8 overall and 2-5 in Eastern Washington Athletic Conference play.
The teams traded touchdowns in the first quarter, with quarterback Brayden Miller punching the ball in from two yards out to make the score 7-6.
Soap Lake scored twice in the second quarter to make the score 21-6 at the half.
In the third, running back Chris Andrews ran for a second DW touchdown, which closed the score to 28-14. In the fourth quarter, Andrews stopped an SL drive with an interception, but DW was unable to convert that to a score.
In his final game for DW, Andrews carried the ball 30 times for 182 yards and a touchdown. Damien Johnson had 10 carries for 22 yards, and Miller ran the ball eight times for 16 yards and a touchdown. Miller completed one of five pass attempts for four yards and no interceptions.
