WAITSBURG - Waitsburg High School senior Loren Negron has been awarded the Washington State University Distinguished Regents Scholars Award. The scholarship covers full WSU tuition and mandatory fees for four years.
Negron is currently taking classes full time at Walla Walla Community College through the Running Start program but the honor students has been an active part of the Waitsburg High School student body during her years at WHS.
Negron won the creed competition at the Washington State FFA Convention as a freshman, is an American Legion Auxiliary Essay winner, is a National Honor Society member, has performed with honor band, and has served as student body secretary, among other achievements.
The WSU Regents Scholars Program recognizes Washington's best high school students for their hard work and academic accomplishments. Approximately 10 students receive the Distinguished Regents Scholar award each year.
