WALLA WALLA – Providence St. Mary Medical Center is one of only six hospitals in the state of Washington to receive highest rating possible, five stars, from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services in its recently released ratings.
CMS’ Hospital Compare website reports on quality measures for more than 4,000 hospitals from around the country. Nationwide, there are 293 five-star hospitals. According to CMS, the most common overall rating is 3 stars.
The overall rating summarizes numerous quality measures reflecting common conditions that hospitals treat, such as heart attacks or pneumonia. The rating shows how well each hospital performed, on average, compared to other hospitals in the U.S. The overall rating ranges from one to five stars.
