Dayton-Waitsburg fastpitch splits double-headers with Kittitas and Columbia-Burbank

BURBANK-The girls DW softball team improved to 5-1 in their league and 6-1 overall after splitting a doubleheader in Burbank on Tues., April 16.

Makiah Summers' bottom-of -the- seventh RBI gives DW a game two victory in Kittitas

DAYTON-On Sat., April 20, the DW softball team split a doubleheader with Kittitas, who entered this matchup undefeated. Kittitas broke things open in the second inning of game one with several hard-hit balls. The most impressive of these were two fence-clearing home runs to left by #12 Peyton Hyatt. Before the inning was over, Kittitas would score thirteen runs. The DW bats were silent, managing only one hit.

In game two, DW's bats came back to life banging out twelve hits.

"McKenzie Dobbs produced a double play in the fifth inning, and in the seventh, with two outs, Makiah Summers hit a hard grounder past third to bring in Elise Steinhoff from second for a play at the plate walk-off," said Coach Shane Robins

With the split, DW improves to 6-2 in league play and 7-3 overall. Their next game is against Lyle-Wishram on Thurs., April 25 in Dayton.
