WALLA WALLA—Walla Walla Fire District 8 will host a free community presentation on wildfire awareness at the Gesa Power House Theatre on Wednesday, June 5 at 7 p.m.
The presentation will include information on the November 2018 California wildfires, with firsthand pictures and accounts from local agencies, part of Washington State Task Force 2 that responded last year. The presentation will also cover Walla Walla County emergency management programs, including: alerts, evacuations, notifications, ready bags, safety zones and shelter in place. Finally, the presentation will discuss what assistance property owners can provide during a fire incident.
The presentation will be led by fourth-generation Walla Walla native Bob Clendaniel, Fire Chief of the Walla Walla County Fire District No. 8. Clendaniel retired as deputy sheriff/sergeant for 30 years with the Walla Walla County Sheriff’s Office and has 39 years of volunteer/full-time fire service. He has also served as incident commander, division supervisor, officer, and/or firefighter on hundreds of fires in the region.
This event is free and open to the public. The lobby will open at 6 p.m., seating will open at 6:30 p.m., and the presentation will begin at 7 p.m. The event is sponsored by Sportsman’s Warehouse, 9th St Auto, L&G Ranch Supply and Columbia REA.
