Daniel Vogelbach is Mariners All Star representative

Daniel Vogelbach will be going to the baseball All Star Game for the Mariners this year. He was picked up in a trade with the Chicago Cubs on July 20, 2016 with Paul Blackburn for Jordan Pries and Mike Montgomery.

This turned out to be a great trade for the Mariners as Pries never made it out of the minors and stopped pitching after the 2016 season. Montgomery currently has an ERA of 6.08 with the Cubs this year. I think it is safe to say the Mariners won a trade!

Vogelbach is currently hitting to a triple slash line of .244/.379/.519 (batting average/on base percentage/slugging) He also has 20 home runs and 48 RBIs in 79 games this season. This has been a breakout season for a player that was sent down to the minors on five separate occasions last year.

He's had a positive impact on one of the Mariners top prospects, Jarred Kelenic. Kelenic reached out to Vogelbach when he started out the season in a hitting slump. After their conversations Kelenic has been one of the Mariners hottest hitters in the minors.

Daniel's contributions haven't gone unnoticed by the minor league staff.

"To be honest, I would say Dan has imprinted our organization as much as we have imprinted on him," said Andy McKay, Mariners farm director.

"It is a credit to the guys around me and the coaches for just helping me as much as possible, I don't think it has sunk in yet, I don't think it really will until I am there," Vogelbach said, following his selection announcement.
