Four murals join downtown holiday decorations

WALLA WALLA—Four new 8-foot by 8-foot murals have been placed in front of the Land Title Plaza, 33 E. Main, Coffee Perk, 4 S. First Ave, the Macy’s building on 58 E. Main St, and at TMACS, 80 N. Colville St.

The idea was a community-led initiative originating with business owner Staci Wanicheck, who wanted to add extra cheer to downtown through local art. Wanicheck contacted Annette Bergevin, General Manager and Founding Partner of Bergevin Lane Vineyards, whose daughter Jaden Bergevin offered to paint the mural now displayed outside TMACS. Annette reached out to three other local artists, Craig Meldahl, Claire Laville, and Chris Jonlick to create additional murals.

Walla Walla Builders Supply donated the plywood to create the 8-foot by 8-foot murals and delivered the finished murals downtown. Wanichek’s company Evergreen Labs, which manufactures Wine Away, donated all the paint for the project.

The murals will be displayed downtown at least through December. The community is encouraged to take pictures with them and post with the hashtag #believeWW.
