WALLA WALLA COUNTY—The body of the individual located on July 6 has been identified, and the next of kin has been notified.
The deceased has been positively identified as 24-year-old Miguel Perez Barragan of Tri-Cities. He was born in Kennewick and was working in residential construction, according to his funeral notice.
Other details surrounding his death have not yet been released as this is an ongoing investigation.
In the afternoon of July 6, WWSO deputies were notified that a citizen had found human remains east of Walla Walla in a rural area of the county. WWSO detectives, deputies, and members of the Walla Walla Regional Task Force responded to the scene and searched the area. The deceased was transported to Spokane for an autopsy which was concluded on July 7, 2022.
The sheriff’s office thanks everyone for their patience and kindness as its investigators and partners continue to work toward answers for those who have lost a loved one.
This is an ongoing investigation, and the WWSO will release more information it is obtained.
