DAYTON—Nearly 5,000 years after he was bestowed with the almighty powers of the ancient gods—and imprisoned just as quickly—Black Adam (Dwayne Johnson) is freed from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world.
Rotten Tomatoes critics didn't like the film, giving it only a 39% favorable rating. The audience disagreed, and rated it 88% favorable.
The audience summary on the Rotten Tomatoes website included, “With lots of action, solid effects, and a story you don’t have to be a comics fan to follow, "Black Adam" is one of the best DC movies to date.”
This movie is rated PG-13 (for sequences of strong violence, intense action and some language). Commonsense media said the movie “becomes a dull smash-and-bash-fest without much time for character development or anything else. Expect large-scale action violence, explosions/destruction, guns and shooting, and lots of fighting. Many characters (including women and children) are killed, sometimes in gruesome, though bloodless, ways: electrocution, stabbing, etc.” It is rated 4 out of 5 for levels of violence and scariness for children. Runtime is 124 minutes.
"Black Adam" will run on Friday, Dec. 23 and Tuesday, Dec. 27, as the theater will be closed on Christmas eve and Christmas day.
