Wolfpack Splits Double-Header with White Swan

DW COMBINE—The Wolfpack led 9-2 in the first game of baseball action at White Swan before the Cougars took the lead after the fifth inning, winning 19-14.

Freshman Will Durham had a strong performance pitching in the season’s first game. Colton Steinhoff had multiple putouts playing third base.

The Wolfpack’s offense was led by Klint Kuykendall, with four hits at bat. Levi Boudrieau had two hits and three RBIs, and Cyson Morris and Jarred Hankins scored three runs each.

In the nightcap, the tables turned as White Swan led 6-4 before the Wolfpack buckled down and held the Cougars to one run over the next four innings. DW won the game 14-11.

The team showed improvement at the plate, drawing eight walks and aggressive base runs. Tracien Garcia led the team with two hits. Jayce Gleason’s strong relief performance was phenomenal, stated Coach Crenshaw.

Crenshaw was pleased by the mental toughness that the young men showed. They did not quit and showed flashes of an outstanding team.

DW’s next double-header will be at Columbia Burbank at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 25.
