Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley
Dear Fire District 2 Residents of Waitsburg and Walla Walla County,
We are absolutely thrilled to extend our deepest gratitude to each and every one of you who cast your votes in favor of the levy lid lift for District 2.
With these new funds, our small local fire department will continue to take significant strides toward enhancing our community’s safety and well-being. Our station has limited availability during the work week because most of the volunteer staff work outside of town. Your willingness to invest in our station paves the way for positive changes that we are excited to implement.Â
In the near term, we will focus on upgrading our equipment in a fiscally responsible manner as well as building out our part-time/on-call interim solution to get more coverage mid-week.
As we move forward, the district will seek a dedicated full-time professional firefighter who will serve as our chief and create continuity for the station. This strategic move will enable us to provide an even higher level of service and care to all our residents.
Your collective decision to support this levy lid lift shows not only a commitment to public safety but also a strong sense of community unity. We appreciate your recognition of the importance of our fire department and its vital role in keeping Waitsburg and its surrounding areas secure.
Beyond our gratitude as firefighters, many of us are also residents and taxpayers within this community. We wholeheartedly believe this investment is a crucial step toward a brighter, safer and more sustainable future for us all.
Thank you for recognizing the importance of our mission, and for standing alongside us as we work diligently to serve and protect our community.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Matt Spring, Commissioner and Captain at Fire District 2
