Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley
WAITSBURG — Middle School boys basketball Coach Gabe Kiefel presented end-of-season awards on Friday, January 12.
Kiefel recognized sixteen players and manager Bryer Paul at the assembly. Liam Kiefel, Carter Barron, Cody Coulston, Alex Watson, Rowdy Cole, Jake Lynch, Alex Zuniga, Gage Mynear, Carsyn Pennington, Colt Boudrieau, Damien Brown, Ollivyr Dahlby, Mitchell Hays, Sidian Stegall, Arrow Groom, and Flynn Richardson all improved throughout the season and will return next year as experienced Cardinal basketball players.
Special awards were presented. For the “A” team, Zuniga was recognized as MVP; Offensive Player of the Year went to Lynch and Defensive Player of the Year was Kiefel. Barron was Most Inspirational, and Most Improved was presented to Coulston.
Boudrieau was the MVP for the “B” team, Offensive Player of the Year was Brown and Defensive Player of the Year was Hays. Arrow Groom was recognized as Most Inspirational and Most Improved was Dahlby.
HS Basketball schedule changes
The High School basketball games scheduled for Friday, January 12 with Prescott and on Saturday, January 13 with Touchet were cancelled due to weather.
The Prescott game will be played on January 22 in Prescott and the Touchet game will be played on January 23 in Waitsburg.
The games scheduled with Mac-Hi on January 16 are cancelled and a make-up date is possible.
The games with Desales scheduled for January 27 in Waitsburg have been moved to January 29 due to a memorial service.
