Update on youth and government jar project, money talks

WAITSBURG — The Waitsburg Youth and Government students are still raising money for their Olympia trip in May. Here are this week’s updates on some of the burning questions that supporters have voted on with their money in the question jars at participating businesses. Starting with the original questions’ final results:

•Soup was $2 better than salad.

•Pedicures were favored $5 over manicures.

•The Beatles gave Elvis a hard day’s night with $21 more.

•To everyone’s great relief, good outdid evil by $7.

As for the newest questions, found at Waitsburg Grocery, Ten Ton Coffee, Blush Salon, Royal Block, Laht Neppur Brewery, Gaudy Gals, and the Waitsburg Public Library:

•Mid-century modern design earned $11 over country farmhouse with only $6.

•Milk chocolate with $21, is leading dark chocolate by a wafer thin margin. Will the darkness at $18 overtake us all?

•With $48, the third party candidate, iced coffee, froze out hot coffee, $21, and hot chocolate at $16.

•Even as the weather is warming, Waitsburg still finds great comfort in Stout, $19, over the light crispness of IPA at $7.

•Waitsburg likes long hair at $11 over shorthair with $8. Apologies to Mr. Elder, who has the shortest of hair.

•Even at the town’s wine bar, beer soaked wine, $28 to $7.

The students thanked everyone donating and the businesses participating. Waitsburg Youth and Government has reached over half its goal so far and will keep the questions until the trip in May.
