DAYTON – “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” breathes new life into this global, epic franchise. It is set several generations in the future, many years after Caesar’s reign, in which apes are the dominant species living harmoniously and humans have been reduced to living in the shadows. As a new tyrannical ape leader builds his empire, one young ape undertakes a harrowing journey that will cause him to question all that he has known about the past and to make choices that will define a future for apes and humans alike.
Rotten Tomatoes critics rate this movie at 80% favorable and audiences generally agreed (78%). This movie is rated PG-13 for intense sequences of sci-fi violence/action. IMDb rated this 7.2 out of 10. Its parent’s guide notes that violence and gore, and frightening and intense scenes are both are listed as moderate. Movie runtime is 145 minutes.
