"Let's talk" about T-shirt copyright infringement

WAITSBURG — Last week, “The Times” published a story about Waitsburg resident Tom Elstrom’s efforts to help bridge communication during the election with a “Let’s Talk!” t-shirt. He and his wife Sue posed wearing the shirts, showing Elstrom’s original design. A Republican Elephant and Democrat Donkey face each other with “Let’s Talk!” in a shared word bubble.

Unfortunately, the shirt appeared for sale on over sixty print-on-demand websites after publication. Though all the sites claim their shirts are “Tom Elstrom Let’s Talk! Tee Shirts,” none are connected to Elstrom. In many cases, the “Times” article and photo were posted with the t-shirts for sale by companies not connected to Elstrom.
