Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley
WALLA WALLA — Sherwood Trust announced a change in the organization’s administrative structure to help it best fulfill its mission.
Program Director Julia Leavitt will leave Sherwood Trust in November after the trust decided to eliminate the position to help the trust maximize the amount of grant funds available to local nonprofits and municipal agencies.
Leavitt has led Sherwood Trust’s community and nonprofit learning events since her hire in November 2019.
“We have all benefitted from her passion for learning and development through many wide-ranging educational events, cohorts, and workshops,” said Sherwood Trust CEO Brian Hunt.
Sherwood Trust will continue to host learning events, however, they will take a different form next year.
The focus is now on how, in this new chapter, Sherwood Trust can best serve as a catalyst for cohesive, vibrant communities.
In a press release to “The Times,” Hunt said the trust will continue to evolve and change to meet new challenges. New members have been added to the board making it more representative. The trust will continue to learn ways to improve its support of local nonprofits and communities. Sherwood Trust stated that its ability to grant needed funding to organizations that serve local communities is the trust’s highest priority.
Hunt welcomes the community’s feedback at brian@sherwoodtrust.org as the trust hones its strategy for this next chapter.
