Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley

Friends of the Library are valuable to the reading community

WAITSBURG - October 20 through 26 is the American Library Association's 19th annual National Friends of Libraries Week. The Weller Public Library Board and Library Supervisor Sarah Roberts would like to acknowledge the active members of Waitsburg's Friends of the Library.

"The Friends of WPL have worked alongside the library staff and Board of Trustees in countless ways, supporting our programming and allowing us to hold events that would otherwise be difficult to support with our small staff," said Roberts. "They spend countless hours organizing events for seasonal celebrations, building floats for Waitsburg parades, and sorting books for fundraising sales. Their efforts have been vital for maintaining building accessibility, keeping our collection current, and keeping our library bright and vibrant," said the library supervisor.

The Friends are planning Waitsburg Hometown Christmas events for the library, including the parade float and a December StoryWalk. Their work expands the library's outreach in the community with readers of all ages. If you grew up with the Weller Library or are new to town, consider joining the Friends of the Weller Library. Anyone interested is invited to attend the FOL monthly meetings on the second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Weller Public Library on Main Street in Waitsburg. Contact folwellerlibrary@gmail.com for more information about the group or to send them a well-deserved thank you.
