Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley
October 13, 1939 – October 3, 2024
"Fish Johnny," as he was known by many, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on October 3, 2024. He had been at Whitman Place in Walla Walla following a major stroke in August of 2023.
A Dayton, Washington resident for well over 50 years, Johnny was known for his faith, his love of steelhead fishing, and providing and praying for others in need. His true work passion was riparian and fish habitat and steelhead spawning/catch surveys.
He was born in Raymond, Washington, with an identical twin brother, Larry, and later sister, Marette Nearing. Having no children of his own, he is survived by cousins, nieces, and nephews. Johnny was pre-deceased by his parents, Harry Johnston and Mildred Wild.
A service is planned for Saturday, November 2nd, at 1:00 pm, at Community Bible Church in Dayton.
