Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley
WAITSBURG — The City of Waitsburg closed its nearly 100-year-old public pool in 2020 due to maintenance and repair costs and administrative difficulties. After finding significant leakage in the pool infrastructure, the city permanently closed the facility. Since then, community members have raised money and support to build a new pool for Waitsburg.
Over the past two years, the Friends of the Waitsburg Pool has raised over $72,000 towards replacing the pool, including funding a feasibility study that will be delivered later this month to determine if the current site can be used.
More information about the pool project can be found at https://waitsburgparks.org/pool.
On Dec. 6, the Friends of the Pool will host its next fundraiser, featuring an all-ages concert by The Frog Hollow Band (tickets are just $5), a 21+ after-party and silent auction, and a free kids’ Christmas movie. Tickets are available at https://tinyurl.com/bsxuuu5d.
The Frog Hollow Band concert and activities are part of the Waitsburg Home Town Christmas Festival.
All funds raised will support the next phase of the project, including additional engineering, imaging, and modeling to bring back a municipal pool to Waitsburg.
The schedule for the December 6 event:
• The Plaza Theater – The Frog Hollow Band Concert will perform from 6 to 7 p.m.
All ages are welcome, and general admission is $5.
• The Royal Block – 21+ After-Party and Silent Auction at 7 p.m. with a silent auction, no-host bar, and small bites.
• The Plaza Theater – A free kids’ Christmas movie after the concert at 7 p.m.
