"Fiddler on the Roof" raises the roof at The Liberty Theater

DAYTON - The Liberty Theater and TVAC Productions will present "Fiddler on the Roof" premiering on November 14 and running through December 7, 2024. The musical is based on "Tevye and his Daughters" and other stories by Sholem Aleichem.

Tevye, a poor dairyman in the village of Anatevka, tries to maintain his Jewish religious and cultural traditions as outside influences encroach upon his family's lives. With the help of a colorful and tight-knit Jewish community, Tevye tries to protect his five daughters and instill them with traditional values in the face of changing social mores and the growing anti-Semitism of Czarist Russia. Rich in historical and ethnic detail, and layered with comedy and pathos, "Fiddler on the Roof" will charm and captivate the entire family.

Directed by Mike Ferrians and Brenda Henderson, the production features over 50 local cast and crew members. The handmade costumes, and props created with the help from the gifted Mary Luce and the handpainted backdrops set the stage for the colorful musical.

Kyle Terry is outstanding as Tevye, and leads the talented cast, including Deb Fortner as Tevye's wife, Golde. The cast features Marshall Nechodom as Perchik, the student, Michael Luce as Avram, the bookseller, Chuck Reeves as Lazar Wolf, the butcher, Janae Helm as Tevye's daughter, Hodel, Julia Mead as Nachum, the beggar, Casey Collins as Motel Kamzoil, the tailor and Stephanie Hinchliffe as Shaindel, Motel's mother along with others.

Making their Liberty Theater debut are Lauren Ellis as Tevye's oldest daughter Tzeitel, Robert Carlson as the Rabbi, Rozalynn Harvey as the Fiddler, Sasha Collins as Mendel, the Rabbi's son, Karin Spann as Grandma Tzeitel, Pilar Diaz-Easton as a Russian and a villager and villagers Owen Harvey and Chase Harvey.
