Bertha Clayton sworn in for WWCC, District 1

WALLA WALLA - Bertha Clayton was sworn in as Walla Walla County Commissioner for District 1 on Tuesday, December 31, at the Walla Walla County Commissioner's office in Walla Walla.

Clayton, an attorney and the Office of Agricultural and Seasonal Workforce Services director, unseated incumbent Jenny Mayberry in November's general election. A Waitsburg High School graduate, the first-time elected official unseated Jenny Mayberry in the November elections.

Before being sworn in, Clayton thanked all involved in her successful campaign, many of whom were in the room of over 60 attendees. As she said in her campaign, she promised always to be prepared and informed, be kind, and be a champion for the services the county provides its citizens.

Walla Walla Superior Court Commissioner Patricia Fulton swore in Clayton. Fulton was elected as the first Walla Walla County Superior Court Judge, and her Investiture Ceremony will take place on Friday, January 10 at 4 p.m. at the Walla Walla County Courthouse at 315 W. Main Street, Walla Walla. Fulton will start her duties on January 13.
