Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley
WAITSBURG - Waitsburg Elementary School students Sydney and Cooper Smith made the Walla Walla Swim Club in 2024. The pair's parents, Kortney and Greg Smith are proud of their second and third-graders, who have made quite a splash in recent competitions with the swim club.
On December 6 through 8, 2024, Sydney and Cooper competed in the 2024 Spokane WAVES Aquatic Team (SWAT) Winter Invite at Whitworth College. Sydney competed in six events and won the High Point Award in the 8-and-under (8U) girls' category. Brother Cooper competed in five events and took home a personal best in the 100-freestyle. The Smith kids have continued their success with the swim club competing in the 2025 Storm Swim Meet at Whitman College's Harvey Pool on January 4 and 5.

He also had a PR by dropping 19 seconds off his 100-yard freestyle time. Cooper also competed in the 50-yard breaststroke, 50-yard backstroke, and the 50-yard butterfly. His 10U team placed first in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
