Lady Cards lose two, keep improving

WAITSBURG — The Lady Cardinals’ high school basketball team suffered two losses last week.

The team lost at Oakesdale on Friday, January 17, 81-14, and on Saturday, January 18, at Tekoa-Rosalia, scoring 63-26.

Senior point guard Alyssa Hollingsworth led her team in scoring in both games.

“The girls have improved a lot over this season,” said Coach Kira Waggoner. Tekoa-Rosalia and Oakesdale are two teams that we have played already. Against Tekoa-Rosalia we were missing four girls, and the team still managed to have one of their best games. The girls scored more points this time around and looked like they were a team playing together, making good passes, and there were some great looks and attempts, but the ball just did not make it in the basket.”

The girls will play St.John-Enidcott in Waitsburg on Friday, January 24; game time is at 6 p.m.

“We are excited for this game as we beat them last time, and the girls have worked hard, so we are hoping for a home victory,” Waggoner said.

On Saturday, January 25, the Lady Cardinals will play Dayton with a game time of 4 p.m.
