DAYTON — Nominated for 8 Academy Awards, Timothée Chalamet stars and sings as Bob Dylan in James Mangold’s “A Complete Unknown,” the electric true story behind the rise of one of the most iconic singer-songwriters in history. Set in New York in the early 1960s, when the 19-year-old Dylan came to the West Village from Minnesota during a time of vibrant music and tumultuous cultural upheaval. With his guitar and talent, he was destined to change the course of American music. He formed close relationships with musicians from the folk movement, including Woodie Guthrie and Pete Seeger. With their help, he rises to fame before growing restless with the folk movement and, refusing to be defined, makes a controversial choice just five years later that culturally reverberates worldwide.
The cast includes Edward Norton, Elle Fanning, Boyd Holbrook, Norbert Leo Butz, Dan Fogler, Scoot McNairy, and Monica Barbaro. Rated R for language, with a runtime of 2hrs and 20min.
