Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley
WAITSBURG. - The Waitsburg Celebration Days will hold its Annual Spaghetti Feed Fundraiser on February 15 at the Waitsburg Town Hall. The doors will open at 5 p.m. with live music and a silent auction. The event organizers will begin serving the spaghetti dinner, with salad and garlic bread, at 6 p.m., followed by the live dessert auction.
The evening ends with the crowning of this year's royal court at 8 p.m. The three court members are Hadley Fullen, age 15, from Milton-Freewater; Jemma Anderson, age 15, from Dayton; and Paytyn Hayda, age 16, from Hermiston.
"This is my first year with three girls, and it's been really fun. I think it's cool to watch their friendships grow as they get to know each other," said Cheyanne Reed, the royal court advisor.
She said the girls have been working hard selling tickets and collecting donations for the silent auction. Reed was excited by the auction items, saying they had some great things to bid on.
"I'm especially proud that the girls stepped up and had taken on a lot by themselves," said Reed.
She said the girls and their families took on much of the work for the event this year after Reed gave birth to her son at the end of October and could not be as present as she would have liked.
"I'm really grateful to have such a great group this year. It makes things fun when you have people who love what they're doing," said Reed.
The event supports the Celebration Days Royalty Court by raising funds for their travel and outfitting needs as they represent the community.
