Waitsburg students will advance to Global Amazing Shake

WAITSBURG - Seventeen students from Waitsburg Schools attended the Amazing Shake state finals in Mattawa, Washington, on Tuesday, February 4.

The Amazing Shake teaches students about professional skills for success through manners, discipline, and respect to present themselves exceptionally for future opportunities.

Participants from Waitsburg, Othello, Royal, and Wahluke school districts spent the day showing judges their skills in handshakes, follow-up questions, quick thinking, and effective communication. Participants practice these skills; however, they never know what is coming in the Amazing Shake competitions.

The Waitsburg School District is extremely proud of its students who attended:

• 1st place: Carter Barron – 8th grade

• 2nd place: Emily Knudson – 7th grade

• 3rd place: Oaklee Adams – 5th grade

• 4th place: Wiley Gagnon – 6th grade

Wildcards: Kaitlyn Paul – 7th grade and Ava McCaw – 6th grade

Also attending were:

• 4th graders: Julian Gillentine, Azaliah Florez, Olivia Long

• 5th graders: Caed Gagnon, Emma Langford, Ethan Mahre, Malcolm Ledford, Myles Frasco

• 6th graders: Katherine Roberts, Rylan Struckmeier, Wyatt Parish

Waitsburg's top performers, Barron, Knudson, Adams, Gagnon, Paul, and McCaw, will travel to Atlanta, Georgia, for the Global Amazing Shake competition hosted at the Ron Clark Academy on March 28-30. In the global competition, participants will move through stations that challenge their etiquette, composure, and savior-faire knowledge. Top performers will advance through the competition until an overall global champion for 2025 is named.
