What's in a name? To Waitsburg Councilwoman Delores Nettles, who grew up on Wood Street on the eastern edge of Waitsburg, it's everything. Wood Street, the street next to the Jackpot Mini-mart, is only a block long and sashays into Taggart Road. The company conducting the E-911 project recommended a number of street designations in Waitsburg, including changing Wood Street to Taggart Road. Nettles objected, saying she didn't see any reason to change, and besides, it's the street on which she grew up and she didn't favor changing it. City Clerk Trina Cole, in presenting the issue, noted that the readdressing is conducted in cooperation with the U.S. Postal Service, and both entities recommended changing Wood to Taggart, giving clarity for emergency services personnel and postal delivery as reasons.

Nine members of the Historical Society Board gathered at the Kison home Monday night and discussed the purchase of a rug for the parlor of the Bruce house. A suitable pattern has been found, large red roses on white at a Walla Walla store, which is similar to the original rug. Availability is the next question to be answered and how soon can it be laid. This will be followed by red velvet drapes and glass curtains.

Dayton has the strongest man on earth, beyond doubt. At any rate we offer twenty seven cents reward for his superior in close fistedness. He got married to a home girl to save expenses. They walked around the block for a bridal tour. He bought her a nickel's worth of stick candy for a wedding present and then suggested that they save the candy for the children.
