WAITSBURG - Waitsburg Middle School girls basketball game against Desales ended in a tie on January 27 in Waitsburg.

With the game tied at the end of the fourth quarter, the teams were given one minute for overtime. Neither team scored, and the game ended with a score of 15 –15.

Five Cardinals scored; Kaitlyn Paul led with seven points, and Audrey Kiefel, Mady Potter, Peyton Childers, and Laila Long each scored two points. Kiefel had six rebounds and five steals, and Potter had five rebounds. Paul, Long, and Jaylynn Gleason had three steals each.

The Cardinals played well against Liberty Christian of Richland on January 29, despite losing 35-21.

Scoring for the Waitsburg girls was balanced, with Potter scoring six points, Paul five (eight rebounds and three steals), Kiefel four (five steals), and Ava McCaw, Childers, and Tanna Ray (three steals) with two points each.

Waitsburg played at Touchet on Monday, February 3, and beat the Redhawks 37 – 23. Kiefel scored 16 points, and she had seven steals. Gleason scored six, Long five, Paul and Potter scored four, and McCaw scored two.

Liberty Christian of Walla Walla beat Waitsburg 28 – 17 at Kison Court on Wednesday, February 5. Long led the Cardinals in scoring with six points and rebounded six. Kiefel and Gleason scored four points each, and Paul scored three. Gleason and Childers each had three steals.
