WAITSBURG — Waitsburg’s track athletes remembered how it feels and how to prepare for competition at the season-opener jamboree at Walla Walla High School on Saturday, March 15.
“The weather got uncomfortable for a while, and it was good to see the veterans take care of themselves, push through, and set the standard for the younger athletes,” said Coach Dan Nechodom.
At the Jamboree, the Cardinals competed against Kennewick, Walla Walla, College Place, and DeSales with the following results:
Freshman Olivia Duncan placed 5th in the shot put with a throw of 26’0”
Junior Brenton Segraves placed 7th in the shot with 36’3”
Junior Teegan Kenney placed 10th in the long jump with 17’6.5”
Senior Cedar Stegall was 10th in the discus with a throw of 60’11”
Senior Alyssa Hollingsworth placed 6th in the javelin with a distance of 65’5” and placed third in the 800m with a time of 2:53.40.
