Scott Hudson to run for Port of Columbia, Dist.1

COLUMBIA COUNTY - Scott Hudson, a lifelong resident and community leader in Columbia County, announced his candidacy for Port of Columbia Commissioner, District 1.

In his announcement, Hudson said his background in accounting, real estate, and community service makes him well-qualified to address the challenges and opportunities facing the port and the county's economy.

Hudson said his nearly 30 years in accounting and tax preparation have given him the financial expertise to oversee port operations effectively.

As a real estate broker, he would bring an understanding of land use and development to support the port's economic growth and job creation mission.

The candidate served as a Dayton City Council Member for eight years, vice-president of the Dayton Chamber of Commerce and president of the Dayton Development Task Force. As port commissioner, Hudson said he would prioritize six key objectives:

• Retain the port-owned rail line

• Develop criteria to govern the sale of port assets

• Assist local businesses to grow and thrive in an increasingly competitive environment

• Respond to state business leads

• Expand partnerships

• Develop a skilled workforce that meets the needs of current and future industries

"I believe that by investing in our local businesses and workforce, we can create a sustainable economic future for Columbia County," said Hudson. "I am committed to promoting initiatives that will strengthen our community and enhance the quality of life for all residents."
