Cardinals split doubleheader

WAITSBURG - The Waitsburg Cardinals split a doubleheader with Garfield-Palouse on Tuesday, April 1, in Waitsburg.

Jarod Hankins started on the mound in the first game. Bryer Paul came in as relief in the third, and Isa Reyes closed out the last couple of innings in the 7-3 loss.

Ryan Meier pitched strong for two innings, and then Isaac Mahre took the mound. The Cardinals won the second game 11-6.

"The boys played really well. They lost the first game, dug deep, and secured the second with a win. Ryan Meyer and Richard Finch started the second game as pitcher and catcher. With aggressive base running and no quit mentality, they came through with the victory," said Coach Joe Greer.
