WAITSBURG – The Waitsburg High School track team had its first opportunity to compete against similar-sized schools at the Bantam Small Schools track meet in Clarkston on Wednesday, April 2.
In their events, Brenton Segraves placed in the top ten in the shot put with a PR 38’0” for fifth place, and he placed ninth in the javelin with a PR of 114’3”. Marion Duncan placed tenth in the 400m (1:17.9), Alyssa Hollingsworth placed sixth in the 800m (2:52.2) and sixth in the javelin (78’8”), and Olivia Duncan had a PR in the shot put (27’4.5”) for fifth place.
Setting personal records at the meet were Tucker Hamilton for javelin and the 200mm, Leif Heckman for javelin, and Cedar Stegall for discus. It was the girls’ first competition in the 4 x 200 relay, and Duncan, Pilar Easton, Stegall, and Hollingsworth placed eighth.
The next track meet will be on April 15 in Pomeroy.
