Reyes is WIAA Athlete of the Week

WAITSBURG - Waitsburg High School Junior Isaias Reyes has been awarded a WIAA Athlete of the Week award. Throughout the school year, the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association and Gesa Credit Union recognize student-athletes for outstanding contributions to their sports and communities.

Nominated students must be in good academic standing at their school and may win the award once during any given academic year.

Athlete of the Week award winners receive a letter of recognition from the WIAA Executive Director, a certificate of achievement, and a $25 gift card courtesy of Gesa Credit Union. WIAA announces winners each week on its website and social media. They also get statewide bragging rights.

"Isaias Reyes is a versatile leader for Waitsburg, contributing at multiple positions this season, including catcher, center field, shortstop, and closing pitcher, said WIAA. "Through four games, he has tallied 13 stolen bases, six RBIs, and struck out just once in 17 at-bats. A Silver Slugger Award recipient as a freshman and a 1st Team All-League nominee as a sophomore, he is also the only student in school history to hit a home run in each of his first three seasons."

Congratulations to Isaias Reyes.
